Hi! I’m Phil+, an Episcopal priest serving at a parish church in the heartland of the United States. This is a page where I share my sermons and other writings.
My daily life as a Christian has taught me that to encounter God and neighbor with an open heart is to be transformed. This is what Jesus teaches us and offers to us.
The title of this blog is inspired by the Gospel according to St. Matthew, when the Magi encounter the Christ child and experience their own transformative relationship with God:
“On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure-chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by another road.” (Matthew 2:11-12)
To walk by another road–what the earliest followers of Jesus called ‘the Way’–isn’t always easy, but it is live-giving. It is how life was meant to be lived.
Thanks for stopping by and walking with me for a bit.
